International Seminar Turin
Young people from The Base and COIYS represented Ireland at an International Youth Participation Seminar in Turin. Here’s what they had to say:
Darren
“Everyone shared a common interest in youth participation and even though the people at the seminar spoke different languages communication was not an issue. I had a great time over there and I really want to keep in contact with some of the guys I met in Italy. At the end of the seminar a group of participants sat together and created the idea to organise a youth exchange in Dublin, looking at cultural diversity through arts, drama, music and media. I want to be part of that in the future.”
Patrick
“I enjoyed the experience especially learning about the differences between Ciriè (the place we stayed) and the local area I am from. I really liked to listen to the different languages (Latvian, Spanish and Italian) spoken by the people. I’d like to see the people I met in Ciriè come to Ireland and we can show them what our country is like.”
Jamie
“I was quite surprised by the knowledge of youth participation and the interest of all the young people involved in the seminar. I enjoyed visiting the local youth centre (Taurus) in Ciriè where we got to experience a lot of activities such as African music and dancing. I also loved the interactions with all the participants and local people.”
