CSR
For the move to our new centre in September this year, UPS kindly assisted with transporting our equipment, furniture and technology into our new centre. UPS staff kindly gave their time, expertise and transport for this, which took place over 2 days.
In March 2007 C&C Park West, URBAN Ballyfermot, Thornton’s Recycling and St John’s College funded a delegation of two Base staff and two young people to the fifth World Media Summit for Children in Johannesburg, South Africa. This conference ran for eight days and throughout their time there, the young people took part in workshops, discussions and radio interviews about all things relating to media and youth.
Many thanks to our supporters for making this possible!

In October 2006, Ireland’s best comedian (in our eyes) PJ Gallagher lent his support to The Base’s Ballyfamous Arts Festival. He came along on our awards night to meet the young people of Ballyfermot. A great night was had by all; we look forward to welcoming PJ back in the near future!

In February 2006, Watt Nicoll MP, renowned motivational speaker and motivator to many Premiership football clubs and footballers visited the youth of Ballyfermot. In a conference entitled Dare2Dream, Watt encouraged young people to set goals and life plans and devised simple steps in his two-hour conference to ensure that achieving these goals became possible. We look forward to welcoming Watt back to Ballyfermot in the near future.
In the Summer of 2005, Business Objects from Park West took part in painting a mural project with the Base and St. Dominics Secondary School. As part of their CSR programme, the murals were painted from countries all over the world, representing the many different cultures in Business Objects. The murals where then hung around the Base site to improve the look of the hoarding and showcase the work of the adult volunteers and young people.
In March 2005, singer Paddy Casey lent a hand as he came along to the Ballyer+ CD Launch in the Mansion House. He even gave an impromptu performance while he was there. Everyone was very excited to have him there and The Base looks forward to meeting with him again soon!
